About The Course
If those plot bunnies are running rampant, your characters won’t behave, or you can’t get your plot straight, then our creative writing course might just be for you.

Struggling to focus on your writing? Join us at Gartmore House for a relaxing creative writing course and reconnect with your creativity.
These creative writing courses are suitable for anyone who really needs the time, space and encouragement to write, whether you’re an experienced writer or a beginner looking for guidance. In the calm surroundings of Gartmore House and all our cosy writing nooks, you won’t fail to be inspired.
With nearly twenty years of supporting writers, our tutor, Stirling Makar Laura Fyfe, specialises in facilitating relaxed, fun and engaging workshops for writers from all backgrounds and experiences.
You’ll develop your voice through dedicated one-to-one mentoring as well as group sessions with sparky discussion and fun writing exercises designed to provoke deeper thought and help you gain momentum.
You’ll have lots of time to create new work in a peaceful and inspiring environment, as well as masterclasses each morning on aspects of your craft.
Our writing holidays support you in finding the best way to establish a regular writing practice by defeating procrastination and boosting creativity. You’ll leave this week inspired, motivated and confident, having achieved more than you’d thought possible. To help you keep the momentum up at home, you’ll also receive you own signed copies of Laura’s books Wellspring and Magpie Mind.
Laura takes special care to ensure the development needs of every writer present are met. She will read some of your work in advance to get a feel for your writing and for discussion during tutorials. Email us here: mail@gartmorehouse.com (up to 5 poems or 2000 words of prose) and we will pass it on to her.

What worked for me today were the spurts of creative writing interspersed with nuggets and tips on building good writing habits. Laura creates a very warm and relaxed environment which is a very important part of the creative process. Thank you!
