(Walk Grade A) Gentle/Moderate. Low altitude walks of between 3 – 4 hours, over paths and beside lochs. Some ascents and descents over rough ground with possible wet conditions underfoot.
The Trossachs are sometimes thought of as being the Scottish equivalent of the Lake District, and this is not an unreasonable comparison as we share spectacular hills, sparkling lochs and a good network of footpaths. The Lochside Walks holiday gives you the opportunity to explore some of these footpaths, admire some of the lochs, enjoy the magnificent views and learn a little about about the flora, fauna, history and geography of the area with our guide, Arthur.
The walking will be gentle, covering no more than 8 or 9 miles a day and with negligible ascent. It will not be an endurance exercise, but rather a leisurely stroll with ample opportunity to savour the scenery and to learn a little about the area. Although, in general, the terrain will be easy underfoot, boots or stout walking shoes should be worn and wind/water proof clothing carried, as we also share our climate with the Lake District!
The exact programme of walks will be tailored to suit the prevailing weather conditions and aspirations of the group, but as well as the bigger lochs, like Loch Lomond, it is intended to visit some of the quieter, but equally attractive ones such as Loch Ard and Loch Venachar.
